Embolización esplénica parcial en pacientes con hiperesplenismo severo secundario a hepatopatía crónica

Resumen
Las citopenias secundarias a hiperesplenismo con esplenomegalia, relacionada con hipertensión portal, complican la evolución clínica de pacientes con hepatopatías crónicas y cirrosis. La embolización parcial de la arteria esplénica, procedimiento en perfeccionamiento desde hace tres décadas, es actualmente una alternativa terapéutica que ha resultado segura, poco traumática y efectiva como tratamiento del hiperesplenismo y esplenomegalia consecutivos a la cirrosis hepática con hipertensión portal.
